Annual Conference – Supporting Refugee & Migrant Women
Organised by the Evelyn Oldfield Unit – Supporting Women Project
This conference will bring together refugee and migrant community groups with mainstream women’s organisations. We will have the opportunity to reflect on the past year of the project and the women’s sector, and plan on what we will do next to support vulnerable refugee and migrant women further.
Keynote speakers include:
Nicole Jacobs – CEO, Standing Together Against Domestic Abuse
Patricia Ng’ang’a’s Film on Domestic Violence
Research and reflections from refugee women’s organisations including:
- Asylum Aid + NatCen: Women’s Asylum Appeals Project
- Saria Khalifa, FORWARD UK – Activism among Sudanese women’s communities.
The presentations will be followed by focused practical workshops where participants can share ideas and good practices on issues relevant to RAS* women, and reflect on what they would like to implement over the coming months.
We will also have a Mini Participatory Theatre Workshop on Migrant Mothers’ Citizenshipdelivered by Dr Umut Erel from the Open Universityand Erene Kaptani
